Dorm Life

Sharing a dorm room with a roommate can be difficult, but try sharing a small dorm room with 5 roommates. Here is a look at a dorm room at my school.

Each side of the room as 3 beds and a desk. The desk is shared by all 3 students.

It isn't a very wide room. But I do believe each room has its own toilet and sink near the window. Sorry, girls, no shower or bathtub. Those are in another building.

The desk has 2 small shelves and one drawer. There are also stools to sit on.

You also have a small cabinet to store your things. Keep in mind that is shared by 3 students. And there is no closet.

An American dorm room seems pretty nice now, doesn't it?

Asia Fashion Week - Intro

In honor of the start of a new season of Project Runway this week, I am doing my own fashion week special. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to great fashion in Asia. Note - All these photos this week were taken in one day at one park.

Nothing beats an orange Barbie shirt and don't forget a matching visor with a scary lamb for your child.

Post Office

Another way to deal with my stuff was to send it home to the US. I made many trips to the post office.

Here I am with my very last box to mail.

My panda wanted to see what all the excitement was about.

Here we are trying to get one of the boxes taped shut. It is VERY full.

Lastly, here is the lady that took all my money. Oh, I mean the person I paid to send the boxes.

Giving Stuff Away

One of the hardest parts of leaving Asia was figuring out what to do with my stuff. I had a lot of stuff!! It is amazing what you can accumulate in a little over two years.

One way that I got rid of things was to give them away. One girl I knew had just moved into her first apartment, so she took a lot of my stuff. And I mean a lot.

Here is some of the stuff she took. I love all the interesting ways of packing, including the MANY rice bags.

She had 2 friends with dollies that helped her move the stuff.

They were experts at packing her things on the dolly.

I had no idea 4 chairs could go on one dolly.

But with so much stuff, you need lots of rope.

It is heavy, but it still rolls.

Ready to move out.

And away we go.

Walking My Stick

I am not sure why this man is carrying a stick or what he plans to use it for. Any guesses?

Whatever the reason, I thought it was a pretty interesting.

Uncommon Sight

This is a sight that I didn't see very often. A bus with seats to spare. Usually the buses are jammed full.
