Still Lost in Asia

So, I lost this started post that should have posted on Sunday, I already posted the photos, but I thought I would post it anyways.

The continuing journey of Lawrence of Asia....

Continuing up the long, long hill.

Up at the top of the hill.

Lawrence of Asia

Today is my father's birthday. It is one of the big numbers or should I say one of the REALLY big numbers. Ah, I am so lucky he doesn't read this. In honor of his birthday, this post is all about him and his trip on a camel.

Doesn't he look like a natural on top of the camel.

And away they go.

Further and further away.

Up the hill.

More from the camel ride tomorrow...

Water Mill Park

Water Mill Park is one of the prettiest parks in the city I lived in.

Full of bridges.

A Water Mill (Yeah, bet you knew that from the name).

And interactive examples of the milling process.

So, one day I went shopping in a tourist area of the city and saw this.

That's right a high wire act.

Outside, in public.

In the middle of a city. Got to love this place.

Bad Bed Idea

When I first moved in to my second Asian apartment, I had a roommate. Between us we had 2 mattresses but only one bed frame. This was one of the ideas on what to do with the extra mattress.

Needless to say, it wasn't the winning idea.

Wedding Photos on the Wall

Asian love to take wedding photos, even if the photos have little to do with the wedding itself. Here are some good examples.

The bride poses against the wall.

The couple stands together on the wall.

Another pose from the bride.

Shopping at the Bazaar

The Grand Bazaar is a giant market with lots of different things for sale. It is also a tourist site so there are many souvenir type things for sale as well.

First, you have your dried fruit and nuts.

And dried leaves, I assume they are either a spice or a tea.

Lots of lavender.

Bracelets, bracelets, and more bracelets.

Hats, everyone needs a cowboy hat from their wild-west experience.

Local musical instruments.

Russian stacking dolls.

And lots and lots of knives.

More Dumpling Making

Mom made the dough into long snakes, then chopped off small pieces.

Here are the small chopped off pieces.

After the dough was chopped, it was rolled out to make small circles.

Here is one of the finished dumplings.

Lots of completed dumplings.

This is one of the ones that I made.

Dumplings cooking.

Cooked dumplings.

And of course, eating dumplings.
